Make no mistake about it, the gaming industry has been swept up in a Battle Royale craze, with many publishers and developers hopping on the bandwagon in an attempt to recreate the successes of both Epic Games’Fortniteand Bluehole Studio’sPlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. With this being the case, someHalo: Infinitefans have been wondering if the forthcoming shooter will include a Battle Royale mode like many other of its competitors, leading 343 Industries to issue a response on the matter.
According to a Social Stream held on 343 Industries' Mixer page, the development studio’s writer Jeff Easterling and playtest coordinator James Bachici stated thatHalo: Infinitewill not be pursuing the creation of a Battle Royale mode. This much was revealed when Easterling responded to a fan question about the game mode being included in the sequel, as he said, “I’ll tell you right now, the only BR we’re really interested in is Battle Rifle.”

While 343 Industries' decision to not pursue a Battle Royale mode forHalo: Infinitemay disappoint some, there are likely others who are breathing a sigh of a relief due to feeling fatigue from the myriad companies chasing this latest trend. Without a doubt, those who aren’t upset about the exclusion of a Battle Royale mode will be more excited at the prospect of getting to experience the game’snew story centered around Master Chief.
Taking all of this into consideration, it’s definitely interesting to see 343 Industries bucking the Battle Royale phenomenon. It indicates that the studio is more focused on polishing the core components of what will make upHalo: Infinite’s content instead of adding a feature that many may not even want at launch due to the trend possibly dying down in the near future. Of course, should the company change its mind, there’s always the possibility that it could add a BR mode in a post-launch update should there be enough fans in the community supporting its inclusion.
