The LoL climb is constantly refreshing.
Knowing seasonal dates in League of Legends can be half the battle, with ranked campaigns often coming down to the final day. With so much on the line rewards-wise, keeping track of when LoL seasons tick over is key.
Here’s every LoL season’s start and end dates from 2009 to today.
LoL season right now
League of Legends is currently inSeason 14, which will run across the entirety of 2024. This will be the last twelve-month seasonal cycle beforeRiot shifts the game to a three-season setupin January next year.
Season 14 started on Wednesday, Jan. 10.Through the 2024 run, Riot has added several champions —including Smolder and Aurora— and shippeda mega rework for Skarner. Teemo, Lee Sin, and Malphite have also enjoyed visual updates.LoL Arena returned to huge player celebrationsand Riot’s bullet-heaven mode Swarm was an instant success too.
More recently, Riot made sweeping changes to LoL’s item system bynerfing nearly every Legendary in the gamein a midseason patch the developers dubbed the “Champion Emphasis” update.
We should see one last champ,Ambessa, arrive this season too.
LoL season start and end dates
From 2009 through to today, Riot has hosted14 LoL seasons. These competitive campaigns have, for the most part, runconcurrently with the closest calendar years, though some have been a little shorter to squeeze in things like testing periods and heavy preseason updates.

Through 2024, players have been able to earn:
Of particular note is the Victorious skins, which can only be earned through competitive success in that particular LoL campaign. This season’s skins have included Kog’Maw (Split One) and Sona (Split Two) while the third split’s skin has yet to be revealed; Riot should announce it soon.
Last season, in 2023, players who reached at least Gold rank or higher in Solo or Flex Queue were rewarded with Victorious Anivia and Victorious Tryndamere.

To qualify for these end-of-season rewards from this year onward, you need toearn a certain number of Split Pointsrather than achieve a specific rank. If you’re Iron, Bronze, or Silver, you’ll need 1,000 Split Points for that split’s Victorious skin, while anything higher Elo-wise requires 80 Split Points. A ranked win nets you 10 Split Points. A loss still earns you six.
Finally, anyone who ends Honor level three or higher gets a Three Honors skin.
