Luminosity Gaming in the esports industry

On Aug. 21, it was announced that Vertiqal Studios has acquired both Luminosity Gaming and Omnia Media from Enthusiast Gaming. The Canadian team currently competes in Apex Legends, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros, Pokémon Unite, Mortal Kombat, Pokémon GO, and PUBG, and includes one of the most successful fighting game community (FGC) players,Dominique “SonicFox” McLean.

In 2016, Luminosity Gaming claimed the MLG Major Championship: Columbus, the first-ever held in North America, with its legendary Brazilian roster featuring Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, and Marcelo “coldzera” David. They then left for SK Gaming, and the team had never reached the same heights. After focusing on the Brazilian scene, LG returned to North America and has continued to field teams in various popular esports.

Vertiqal Studios acquires Luminosity Gaming

As a result of the acquisition, Vertiqal Studios has expanded its presence across YouTube, Twitch, and other social media platforms. The goal is to scale cross-platform capabilities, complementing its existing offerings on TikTok and Snapchat.

The acquisition follows Enthusiast Gaming’s divestment from Luminosity Gaming. In fact, the company’s CEO recently revealed during itsQ2 2025 earningscall that the organization was not part of its future plans. Consequently, with Luminosity Gaming no longer in its portfolio, Enthusiast Gaming will now shift its focus to other products. Specifically, this includes Icy Veins and the online mobile game publication Pocket Gamer.
