64 of the best AM teams in the world. One bracket, one winner, two spots at Champs. What more can you ask for?
The final Call of Duty Challengers Open is here and it’s headed back to Toronto. The best amateur Call of Duty teams from across the world will take part in the last event of the season, all with the hope of making Champs.
Last season’s Toronto Open was one for the ages. The 2023 iteration is shaping up to be just as unpredictable. This final event of the season is the last before the World Championship event in Vegas in June.
The Open runs alongside the Call of Duty League event at the same venue. Play starts on Friday and runs through to Sunday morning.
Teams
Toronto’s Open event will feature 64 teams. This is a slight rise from the 62 that competed at the same event last season. But that does still make it the smallest Open event of the 2023 season.
That does mean, though, that the quality at this event is far more concentrated than at previous events. Top teams will play each other earlier in proceedings than at previous events in the calendar.
Some of the top teams have had to re-jig their rosters for this event. There are new and familiar Challengers teams all ready to try and take home the last chip of the MW2 season at the Toronto Open.

Here are the top 16 seeds that will take part in the Toronto Open, followed by some other notable teams competing at the event.
The winners from Challengers Elite Stage 4 in both North America and Europe will no doubt be the favorites. Aphelion Esports and Millennium 7 who have plenty of experienced players on their rosters. Both have former CDL talents on, too.
It will be French/Belgian team Aw0babobs that take the number one seed though. They have been one of the most consistent teams both online and offline this season and have one of the best up-and-coming AR players in the form of Jordan “Abuzah” Francois.

Format
The 64 teams that take part in the Toronto Challengers Open event will all be seeded into a double elimination bracket. Each team will have to lose twice to be eliminated from the tournament.
These matches will all be Best of 5, except for the first round in the winners bracket, the first two rounds of the lower bracket and the Grand Finals.
Opening rounds will feature Best of 3 matches in consideration of the time limits at the venue. Grand Finals is a Best of 7, just like the Call of Duty League.
Venue
The Toronto Ultra Major 5 Challengers Open will take place at the Mattamy Athletic Center in Toronto. It is the same venue as last year’s event.
This time, access to the Challengers Open is open to the public. Anyone can enter the venue to watch the best upcoming player in Call of Duty.
Prize
The prize for the Toronto Challengers Open is $75,000. This will be split between the top eight teams at the event. Any team that finishes below 8th will not win any prizing.
The winning team will win the biggest split of that prize but it’s not just about money at Major 5. The top two teams at the event will also automatically qualify for the Challengers Champs event in Vegas in June.
