This article discusses drug misuse.

Taylor Dearden, who plays Dr. Mel King onThe Pitt, recently hinted at how her character will react to the return of Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) in the second season of HBO’s medical drama. At theend ofThe Pittseason 1, Dr. Langdon was forced to leave Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center and begin a rehab program after Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) discovered he had been stealing pain medication from the hospital. WhenThe Pittseason 2 was confirmed, however, the creators of the show also confirmed that the series would follow Langdon’s first days back after seeking help.

While speaking withCollider, Taylor Dearden commented on how Mel, who had a very close relationship with Langdon, would handle his return in the coming season.

“I would like to see or guess that she’ll be really excited to see him and to have him back around. I have no idea if she knew what happened or anything, but I am excited that it’s his first day back. There has to be some good Mel-Langdon there. Just has to be.”

As Dearden noted,it looks like Mel is going to be excited about Langdon’s return to the hospital regardless of the circumstances of his absence. Mel and Langdon did have an amazing chemistry during her first day on the job inThe Pittseason 1, and none of the othercharacters inThe Pittreally saw and understood Mel as well as Langdon did. Mel may also be one of the only friendly faces Langdon encounters, given how rumors of his drug misuse probably would have reached the other doctors and nurses.

What Taylor Dearden’s Comments Mean For Mel & The Pitt Season 2

Mel & Langdon May Grow Even Closer In The Pitt Season 2, But She Also May Feel Betrayed

Though Mel will be happy to see Langdon return to the hospital inThe Pittseason 2, that will only be the beginning of their stories. One of the most likely ways this story could play out is that they grow even closer. Much ofThe Pittseason 2 is going to focus on Langdon’s efforts to rehabilitate his reputation and rebuild some bridges that he burned after his drug misuse was outed, particularly with characters like Robby and Santos (Isa Briones).Mel may be one of the only people who’s happy to see Langdon return, and their friendship may grow even stronger because of it.

The other most likely way Langdon’s reunion with Mel plays out is the exact opposite. Taylor Dearden mentioned that Mel might not even know why Langdon left the hospital in the first place. If she finds out that he was stealing drugs from the hospital inThe Pittseason 2, Mel may view that as a breach of trust, which would hurt her friendship with Langdon. Evidently, Mel and Langdon’s reunion could be one of the more emotionally charged parts ofThe Pittseason 2.

Our Take On Mel & Langdon’s Reunion In The Pitt Season 2

No Matter How It Plays Out, Mel & Langdon’s Reunion Will Be Great To Watch

As Taylor Dearden said, “there has to be some good Mel-Langdon there.“Regardless of whether Mel and Langdon grow closer or drift apart, I am excited to see them reunite inThe Pittseason 2. Their chemistry was so good in the first season andThe Pitt’s writing is so impeccable that I’m confident their story will be just as engaging in season 2. If it turns out to be wholesome, I’m sure it will be even better than their story in the first season, and if it turns out to be sad, I’m sureThe Pittwill give us a sucker-punch to the emotions like it has so many times before.
