Team Falcons players won the first-ever OWCS World Finals! Esports.gg interviewed them about their path to victory and more.
After a weekend of Overwatch 2 esports action, Team Falcons players came out on top and took home the gold at the Overwatch Champion Series (OWCS) World Finals! The audience at DreamHack Stockholm cheered loudly as the stage lit up in green and the victors did their trophy lift. After the fanfare, esports.gg interviewed Team Falcons about their journey to the top!
Team Falcons win OWCS World Finals 2024
In the post-match interview translated with the help of Zuzanna Olszewska, Team Falcons players reflected on their journey throughout the circuit. In Korean, Kim “Proper” Dong-hyun told esports.gg that he found it easier than expected to win against Crazy Raccoon.
The rivalry between Team Falcons and Crazy Raccoon was prevalent throughout DreamHack Stockholm — similar to that ofDreamHack Dallas earlier this year. This time, however, Team Falcons ultimately came out on top. The players pushed Crazy Raccoon down to the elimination bracket, forcing Crazy Racoon to fight against Toronto Defiant and end the latter team’s sights on a Cinderella run.
Although Crazy Raccoon climbed their way back to the top for a revenge match in the grand final, it wasn’t enough as Team Falcons defeated them 4-1. The final map was Esperança, and Team Falcons pushed the bot the farthest with Proper on Reaper.
Jeong “Stalk3r” Hak-yong, who played a mean Echo throughout the match, also chatted briefly about his victory as the OWCS World Finals MVP. He said the award was expected. Stalk3r won this OWCS World Finals title for his contributions to the championship match. The winning vote was determined by a panel of broadcast talent and OWCS administrators.
