Skull and Bones is here with its worldwide launch, and Ubisoft has communicated an update that should make things smooth sailing.

That’s right, Ubisoft is offering a free trial for anyone who wants to take a deeper dive into Skull and Bones before purchasing it. You can play for eight hours, unrestricted. It is the full game, so as much as you can accomplish in that time is what you’ll experience.

You’ll be able tocreate a character, build your first ship, customize it with a load of cosmetics, and meet some dastardly pirates who want to help you as much as they’d turn on you in an instant.
While Early Access is over, the standard global launch of Skull and Bones is here. You can stillbuy the Premium Edition for some extra goodies, and this trial can help you decide if the game is for you.
It’s important to note thatthere’s no land combat, boarding rival ships is just a quick cutscene, and it is very much an arcade-like pirating simulator. In this game, you are most definitely the ship with a captain avatar just to add a bit more depth.
If you’ve made up your mind already, then you’ve made up your mind already. That’s all there is to it. If you want to see if Skull and Bones is for you, give the free trial a go. There’s no harm in that.
If you do decide to purchase the game after playing the eight hour trial, you’re progress will carry over. No need to start fresh. Your pirate captain will be waiting for you, with full cross-play and cross-progression capabilities.
