Warning: Spoilers ahead forResident Alienseason 4, episode 2, “The Lonely Man.“What the Greys did to Harry betweenResident Alienseasons 3 and 4 has now been revealed, and it sets up a story that brings the arc of Alan Tudyk’s character in a satisfying loop. Tudyk’s role among theResident Aliencasthas changed as the show has progressed. Not only has he played more than one character, but his primary role has undergone some drastic changes, both gradual and immediate. InResident Alienseason 4, episode 2, “The Lonely Man,” the extent of one of his more recent transformations is made clear, and the fallout from the twist will ripple throughout the current run of episodes.
Resident Alien’s Grey Aliensboast some fearsome technology and nefarious goals, and “The Lonely Man” proves the show has barely scratched the surface when it comes to what they’re capable of doing. After the Earth’s moon was revealed to be a Grey ship at theend ofResident Alienseason 3, the show opened the door to giving the villainous race more and more power.Harry has now been directly affected by the Greys' new near-omnipotence, and his big character change actually holds up a mirror to some ofResident Alien’s earliest installments.

Resident Alien Season 4 Reveals Harry Is Fully Human Now
It turns out the Greys didn’t just implant an inhibitor chip
Harry and his friends initially operate under the impression that the Greys have installed an inhibitor chip in Tudyk’s character to stop him from returning to his alien form. Their theory is eventually debunked with Bruce’s dying words. Voiced by Jinkx Monsoon, Bruce explains to Harry that there is no inhibitor chip. Instead, the Greys removed all of Harry’s DNA so that he is fully human, rather than him just being stuck in a human disguise.
Harry now has a much bigger task on his hands if he’s ever going to reclaim his original body and alien abilities.

This is a huge twist that goes against Harry’s line in theResident Alienseason 4 trailer, which shows him explaining what an inhibitor chip does. Plus, it makes the solution Harry was looking for even more complicated. While he thought all he needed was Bruce to find and remove the chip, Harry now has a much bigger task on his hands if he’s ever going to reclaim his original body and alien abilities.
As one of the key figures in Earth’s protection from the Greys so far, Harry becoming human makes him a far less potent weapon. While he has retained all the useful knowledge he has of beings from beyond the stars,Harry now lacks the immense strength and other superhuman powers he could once access. So, the Greys' procedure made both him and his new home far more vulnerable.
Harry’s Plan To Destroy His Homeworld As A Human Mirrors His Plan To Destroy Earth As An Alien In Season 1
It’s easy to forget that Harry was once Resident Alien’s main villain
The Greys value Harry’s alien energy, and they won’t give it back to him without a trade for something that they want even more. Just before Bruce completely became a bag of goo, he shared with Harry what it was that the Greys would take in exchange: technology from Harry’s people. Although still unnamed,Harry’s people have hauntedResident Alien’s narrative since the beginning, and even Harry himself was sent by them to kill all humans. They have incredibly powerful technology, some of which even seems to surpass that of the Greys.
Harry’s narration in “The Lonely Man” voices his concerns that giving the Greys his people’s technology could result in them using it to destroy his homeworld.
Harry’s narration in “The Lonely Man” voices his concerns thatgiving the Greys his people’s technology could result in them using it to destroy his homeworld. However, he also confirms that he thinks it’s worth the risk, and that it would be a worthwhile tradeoff if he could be himself again. So, Harry is a human who is essentially about to embark on a quest to destroy his homeworld.
InResident Alienseason 1, the exact opposite was true. Harry was still an alien when the show began, and his mission was to destroy the Earth. At the very least, he was supposed to rid the planet’s surface of all humans for the damage they had done to the environment. So, while the motives in each scenario aren’t the same, showrunner Chris Sheridan has still artfully flipped Harry’s oldest storyline to create his most recent.
Harry’s Dilemma Opens The Door For Resident Alien Season 4 To End The Show For Good
The two biggest possibilities for Resident Alien season 4’s finale are perfect end points
As much asI would loveResident Aliento run forever, it has to end at some point. With rumors of cancellation after the end of season 3, the show was arguably very lucky to get season 4. It’s incredibly popular among its devoted fan base, but it’s not exactly one of the biggest shows in the world. So, I would rather it end sooner on its own terms than risk being left unfinished due to an overly ambitious storyline that’s planned for several more seasons.
Alan Tudyk directed the first two episodes ofResident Alienseason 4.
With that in mind, I thinkthe big twist that Harry is human offers the show a great opportunity to wrap things up, if it wants to. There are two main outcomes that are possible when it comes to Harry’s upcoming attempt to locate and trade his people’s technology to the Greys, and both of them offer a suitableResident Alienfinale. With eight episodes still left to go, there’s even plenty of time to pull off either. Sure, the Mantid storyline is still going on, but I think there’s space for both to happen side by side.
The first possibility is that Harry succeeds in finding the tech he needs to trade to the Greys, presumably in the possession of General McCallister, as Linda Hamilton returned at the end of “The Lonely Man” with a suspiciously relevant-looking device in her hand. If he takes it from Hamilton’s character and chooses to trade it to the Greys in return for his powers, thenHarry’s homeworld could feasibly be destroyed by the Greys, which would make Earth his new permanent home.
Harry could either fail to find what he needs to trade to the Greys, or at least refuse to hand it over if he does come across the tech he’s looking for.
The other option is pretty much the exact opposite. Harry could either fail to find what he needs to trade to the Greys, or at least refuse to hand it over if he does come across the tech he’s looking for. This would leave Harry unable to ever return to his alien form, and he would remain permanently human. Even in this scenario,Earth would still become Harry’s home forever, but it would feel even more fitting due to the fact that he’s been gradually becoming more human sinceResident Alienbegan back in 2021.
