Well, it seemsSword Girlsis the newest online anime-styled card battle game from Zeonix. Based in a fictional world not unlike our own, the game features four warring factions – the first of which, The Crux, is spotlighted today – with Sita Vilosa, a student who moonlights as a monster hunter, taking the lead and facing some tough decisions.
As I’m fairly new to the modern card battle world, this seems pretty interesting.Sword Girlsfeatures over 500 hand-drawn anime cards from “veteran anime artists,” a new card crafting system, monthly ladders, and the ability to play from any flash enabled device (sorry iOS).
The basic idea is that you construct a deck of one character card, several followers (frontline units) and spells. Obviously followers will protect your character and act as the primary attack card, but losing followers also depletes your characters health. Spell cards do exactly what you think spell cards would do. Like any other card battle game, optimizing all three card types looks to be the key.
Zeonix has announced two of the game’s factions already – The Academy and Vita Public School – but they’ve also just announced a third, The Crux. The Crux’s shining star, Luthica, is a holy warrior, though there doesn’t appear to be anything holy about her curvy appearance and revealing attire. It is anime, after all.
Sword Girlsis entering closed beta on the 12th withsign-ups on their website. If you’re into card battle games, this one might be worth a glance. Considering that I haven’t touched a card-game since myMagic: The Gatheringdays in high sch…ok, let’s face it, that was last week. Still, I’ll be signing up. With a single-player dungeon-based campaign and PVP it could get interesting.
