Early in October,Pokemon GOreleased a video on ways to obtain the next-gen creature, Meltan, and it was also revealed that aspecial Meltan research questwill be coming this winter. In the video, it also revealed that to catch Meltan, players will have to obtain a Mystery Box. Finally, more details about the Mysterious Box have been revealed during a Nintendo Treehouse Live that took place after the Super Smash Bros Direct yesterday.
As has been revealed earlier, to get their hands on a Meltan inPokemon GO, players will need to playPokemon Let’s GO: Eevee!andPokemon Let’s GO: Pikachu!on Nintendo Switch.Once these games are released on November 16th, players must play through the entire game until they get to Fuchsia City. Once there, players will gain access to GO Park, which where one can send Pokemon fromPokemon GOtoPokemonLet’s GO.
to gain a Mystery Box that will allow players to encounter Meltan, they need tosend a PokemonfromPokemon GOtoPokemonLet’s GOin the GO Park. This item will then finally allow players to encounter Meltan inPokemon GOand catch them as much as they can for the next 30 minutes. This box therefore functions like an incense, but only for Meltan.
This seems like a lot of effort to go through just to be able to huntMeltanfor a mere 30 minutes, but fortunately, this is not limited to just one player per Switch game; it does not matter how manyPokemon GOaccounts interact withLet’s GO. Multiple people can send Pokemon from theirPokemon GOaccounts, and each person will receive a Mysterious Box the first time they send something toLet’s GO.
More importantly, eachPokemon GOaccount can only use the Mysterious Box once per week, which further limits one’s chances of catching Meltan. Although manyPokemon GOplayers may not go to these extents to catch Meltan, this Special Meltan Research is sure to pose a challenge for die-hard fans.
