Last month,Pokemon GOintroduced the concept of “lucky” Pokemon to the game. Essentially, lucky Pokemonare sparkly Pokemon that, after traded, have special characteristics like requiring less stardust to power up. Until now, getting a lucky Pokemon has been relatively random, but Niantic is adding a way for players to guarantee they will get a lucky Pokemon in the game.

Pokemon GOplayers who have less than 10 Lucky Pokemon can trade a Pokemon that has been in their storage since July or August 2016, and it will be a guaranteed lucky Pokemon. To sweeten the pot further, Niantic is making lucky Pokemon stronger, giving players even more reason to trade Pokemon with friends.

Fans waited years for Pokemon trading to be added toPokemon GO, but it seems as though the feature was worth the wait. The introduction of Pokemon trading has been associated with the mobile game’s recent surge in popularity, which has seen Niantic’s revenue rise. This comes as no surprise, as there are many benefits to trading Pokemon inPokemon GO, including leveling up friendship levels and obtaining bonus candy for the Pokemon being traded.

Of course, another benefit to trading is the possibility that players will get a lucky Pokemon after a trade. Getting a lucky Pokemon doesn’t happen all that often for some players, so guaranteed lucky Pokemon will helpPokemon GOfans who have been missing out add some more lucky Pokemon to their collection.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if Niantic makes any additional changes toPokemon tradingin the future. One feature that some fans would like to see is the ability to trade Pokemon with friends who live far away. After all, the game allows players to send gifts to others all over the world, so it’s a bit disappointing that worldwide trading isn’t a possibility at the time of this writing.

Whether or not global trading will ever be added toPokemon GOremains to be seen. For now, fans will just have to trade with their friends that live nearby if they want to get their hands on some lucky Pokemon.

Pokemon GOis out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
