It’s no major secret that theNintendo Switchis still one of the most highly coveted pieces of hardware in the gaming world right now, with the Big N having recentlyincreased production to 2 million units per month. Of course, existing owners of the console are undoubtedly enjoying their purchase, but many of them who play games online with the system could have their typical gaming schedule interrupted, as the company is set to perform maintenance on its online servers this week.

The first round of maintenance is specifically forSplatoon 2, as the Big N says “all network services” in the game will be unavailable for around 90 minutes from 5:50 PM PT / 8:50 PM ET tonight on Wednesday, October 11 in the UK and Australia. Online play for some of the other games on theNintendo Switchwill be affected for the same period of time as well, with more maintenance following later in the week. Interested parties can find the full schedule of repairs posted at the end of the article, with some of the fixes having already been completed.

As one might expect, this isn’t the first instance of Nintendo scheduling server maintenance for the Switch, so most fans will likely see the company’s somewhat vague descriptions about which services will specifically be affected as par for the course. Thankfully forSplatoon 2players, though, the online downtime will end up avoiding both the EuropeanSplatoon 2toilet roll Splatfest and the upcoming Halloween Splatfest in North America.

So, while Nintendo doesn’t directly mention which games other thanSplatoon 2will be impacted by the console’s server maintenance, it’s safe to presume that most of the system’s online-friendly titles such asARMSandFIFA 18will have their online features go dark for a period of time. Hopefully, though, the company won’t run into any unforeseen issues that causes it to extend Switch server maintenance far beyond the currently scheduled times for the repairs.
