True story: the first game soundtrack I ever owned wasDK Jamz. I ordered the cassette through Nintendo Power’s Super Power Supplies Catalog, back when mail orders took upwards of six weeks or more. God, do I love the Internet today.

Where was I? The soundtrack, right. It was pretty marvelous. Everyone knows and loves the “DK Island Swing,” of course, but “Gang-Plank Galleon” stuck with me in a big way. A 30-second pirate jig that turns into this badass, drum-fueled jam, it’s one of my favorite final boss themes ever!
