There is a Secret Tenth Member of the Joestar Family
Jorge Joestar Only Appears in a Light Novel, Not the Original JoJo’s Manga or Anime

Jorge Joestar/George Joestar II
Jorge Joestarlight novel
The light novel, titledJORGE JOESTAR,was written by Otaro Maijo, rather than Hirohiko Araki, who wrote the original series.JORGE JOESTARoriginally debuted in 2012, and it was largely forgotten in favor of the traditionalJoJo’scanon. Despite not contributing to the storytelling, Araki was involved with the project to some degree, as he illustrated the light novel’s cover art. The cover features Jorge juxtaposed with a drawing of another familiarJoJo’scharacter who played a major role in Part 2, Lisa Lisa.
To make matters even more puzzling, there are two versions of this Jorge Joestar character, across two separate universes.JoJo’s Bizarre Adventureis no stranger to the concept of alternate universes, and many characters have another version of themselves in another world, like Josuke Higashikata, who technically shows up in both Part 4 and Part 8 with the same name, but not as the same person. This same phenomenon applies to Jorge Joestar, who is also known as George Joestar II, and the light novel is evenly split between these two individual heroes.
George is Erina’s Son and Lisa Lisa’s Husband, While Jorge is a Teenager
These Two Individual Heroes Embody Different Worlds During Different Spans of Time
George Joestar II has ties to many othermajor characters in theJoJo’s Bizarre Adventurefranchise, particularly Erina Pendleton and Lisa Lisa. His mother is Erina, who was the previous love interest of Jonathan Joestar before his death.George also went on to marry Lisa Lisa, and she later gave birth to Joseph Joestar.Because of these familial connections, George Joestar II is obviously a member of the Joestar bloodline, but his story was omitted from the mainJoJo’s Bizarre Adventuremanga and anime, so this relationship is often overlooked by the majority of fans.
JORGE JOESTARwas originally released on June 22, 2025, and then re-released on June 12, 2025.
AlthoughGeorge did not use the Hamon/ Ripple power systemlike his predecessors, he did join the Air Force and became a strong fighter in that way. He was very close to his mother, Erina, and lived under her roof in Spain for many years, while Lisa Lisa, who would later become his wife, lived with her adoptive father, Straizo, in Italy. Eventually, the pair reunited, officially married, and had their son, Joseph. The light novel chronicles their adventures, both George’s adventures in the Air Force and his time together with his family.
Jorge Joestar is a Teenage Detective Who Travels Space and Time
Jorge’s Story is JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s Take on the Multiverse Trope
The other character the light novel focuses on, Jorge Joestar, exists in an alternate universe from George. He is a teenage boy, and during his work as a detective, he becomes involved in a complicated case involving alternate versions of multiple characters from other arcs ofJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.Jorge’s story occurs after the universe has been reset, but familiar faces like Dio Brando, Diavolo, and Rohan Kishibe show up again.Time travel and alternative universes are explored in depth in Jorge’s chapters of the light novel, contrasting with George’s story set specifically between 1900 and 1920.
Jorge’s version of events also includes Stands, whereas George’s experience did not, culminating inone of the most significant JoJo’s final battlesin the series. The face-off betweenJoJo’svillains, past, present, and future, is monumental, andJorge quite literally travels through time and space to unravel a murder mysteryand to understand why traveling between universes is now possible. Multiverse stories are more favored now than ever, with massive franchises like Marvel creating their own, and Jorge Joestar isJoJo’sversion.
The Light Novel Connects to JoJo’s Past as Well as Hinting at Its Future
Although George Joestar II and Jorge Joestar are not the same person, both of their stories are shared in theJORGE JOESTARlight novel. Half of the chapters, those that start with even numbers, are Jorge’s chapters, while those that start with odd numbers are focused on George Joestar II and his life.JORGE JOESTARtransitions between the two stories, encompassing the novel’s sixteen total chapters. Not only doesJORGE JOESTARprovide background on already established characters,it expands theJoJo’suniverse in a meaningful way and hints at what is yet to come from the franchise.
The light novel is not just entertaining in its own right, it allows for a deeper understanding of the franchise as a whole.
JORGE JOESTARwas first made available on August 01, 2025, and was re-released on August 02, 2025. MoreJoJo’sfans should take the time to immerse themselves in these characters' experiences, because the light novel is not just entertaining in its own right, it allows for a deeper understanding of the franchise as a whole. George’s story connects to those of other pivotalJoJo’sheroes, like Joseph and Lisa Lisa, while Jorge’s sheds light on concepts like universal resets and time travel that come into play later inJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, making the novel a valuable read for any fan.
