The first gameplay deep-dive trailer ofMadden NFL 25showcased some of the upcoming features, and EA Sports has also clarified the issue of cross-play and cross-progression.
The upcoming football simulator will be available on multiple platforms, and features like cross-play and cross-progression have their own merits. During the last couple of years, players could play with each other irrespective of their platforms. Based on the information shared by the developers, that’s set to continue once again.

How will cross-play work in Madden NFL 25
If you start the game on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series XlS, cross-play will be enabled by default. When you opt for any mode that requires online matchmaking, you could face someone using the platforms mentioned here.
This will have a significant effect on the game if you have it turned on. The matchmaking pool will be a lot bigger, making it easier for you to find games. However, you can opt out of cross-play if you want. For PS5 and PC users, this will be available in the in-game settings. Xbox users can do the same from their console settings. We will have a detailed guide on this once the game goes live, similar to how you candisable cross-play inCollege Football 25.

If you’re on older-gen consoles, there’s no way to use cross-play.
Will Madden NFL 25 have cross-progression
Unlike cross-play, cross-progression won’t be available that easily. You can carry over your progression between two consoles of the same system. If you migrate from an Xbox One to an Xbox Series XlS console, you’ll retain your progress. The same applies to those who choose to upgrade from PS4 to PS5. However, if you migrate across two systems (let’s say, from PS5 to PC), you’ll need to start fresh.
You’ll need to purchase separate copies to play on two platforms of separate systems. EA Sports has long used this system for all its sports games, and it won’t be changing withMadden NFL 25.
