Diablo 4’s developers at Blizzard have seen a significant internal shakeup recently, which could mean a new direction for the action RPG series. The current state ofDiablois a bit of a mixed bag: although it’s generally a solid evolution of the Diabloformula, there are some issues that rear their heads, especially near the endgame, to disrupt the experience.

In recent months, players have complained oflackluster battle passes, stingy loot, and poor performance. While there are high hopes for big changes in Season 10, real fixes may take a little more than a single seasonal update. Butnew internal shakeups could signal a massive step forwardforDiablo 4in the coming days.

Diablo 4’s Ride Has Been Bumpy

But A New General Manager Could Be The Change It Needs

Diablo 4general managerRod Fergusson recently opted to leave Blizzard, posting onX(formerly Twitter) to express his pride in the game and his high hopes for the team going forward.

As far as we know, Blizzard has yet to appoint a new general manager in his place (at least not publicly), butsome fresh faces could really be the kick in the pantsDiablo 4needsto fix some of its long-standing issues.

Now, I want to be abundantly clear:I don’t think Fergusson was the sole cause, or even necessarily part of the problem, when it comes to criticisms ofDiablo 4. That said, someone new at the top could bring a new approach to updating and developing new content for the game, which could help it recover from long-standing criticisms.

Diablo 4 Has A Lot Of Untapped Potential

A New General Manager Can Take On Diablo 4’s Challenges

For example, many players continue to take issue withDiablo 4’s core classes, finding many of them lacking when compared to theirDiablo 2or3counterparts. These issues have existed from the very beginning, and a new general manager willing to pursue a new direction could bring some real change in that arena.

Other complaints, like apparentlyrecent changes to drop rates, haven’t been around quite as long -though they’re just as frustrating. Some genuine changes to loot to require less grinding for high-level players would also be most welcome.

And other than that,Diablo 4could get really creative with future updatesand other changes. Unique seasonal content - not just specific new powers - could be interesting. Morecollabs with properties likeBerserkwould be fun as well. And the rumored Paladin class could make its way into the game soon, which would definitely make a worthy addition.

It remains to be seen what’s next at Blizzard. A new general manager won’t solve all of the inherent issues, but it’s got potential to set a new direction. There’s no reason not to be optimistic about the future ofDiablo 4.
