Each time a new Season kicks off inDestiny 2, all sorts of new weapons and armor are added to the game for players to obtain. Season 18 follows this trend by adding in a series of pirate themed weapons and armor. These new seasonal weaponshave a lot of interesting perk combinations that make them a lot of fun to use, and they compliment many play styles.

One seasonal weapon in particular is drawing lots of attention. The weapon in question is none other thanTarnished Mettle, a 200 RPM (Rounds Per Minute) Scout Rifle that does Arc damage. Here is how players can claim a Tarnished Mettle for themselves.
How To Get Tarnished Mettle
SinceDestiny 2is very much a loot game, nearly every weapon or armor in the game is found at random. While there is a set of items that can drop anywhere, the majority of the loot t is exclusive to certain activities. This is the case with Tarnished Mettle, as it is a seasonal weapon.
So forDestiny 2players who want to get this gun, they will want to be doing activities like the six player activity Ketchcrash andthe smaller scale Expedition activity. Both the armor set and weapons are random drops at the end of this activity. So ifDestiny 2players just play the game and hope it’ll drop, they will be entirely at the mercy of RNG.

Is There A Way To Improve Chances Of Tarnished Mettle Dropping?
Thankfullythere are a few ways to mitigate the randomnessof drops in seasonal content. There are two Crew Upgrades thatDestiny 2players can acquire at the Star Chart. The first one is Weapon Treasure Map which gives players an option to restore a map with the Captain’s Atlas that guarantees the buried treasure at the end of an Expedition will contain a seasonal weapon. For players looking to get Tarnished Mettle, this will shift the odds more in their favor. Weapon Treasure Map requiresmore Map Fragments and Treasure Coordinates, but the cost is worth it.
Another good way to improve chances of getting Tarnished Mettle is the Hidden Compartment Crew Upgrade. This upgrade grants a guaranteed red border seasonal weapon after completing the first Ketchcrash at the start of a weekly reset. This will also giveDestiny 2players a chance at getting Tarnished Mettle instead of other rewards. Originally this upgrade was not working as intended, but Bungie recently fixed it.

Can Tarnished Mettle Be Crafted?
Destiny 2players not satisfied with the perks they got on Tarnished Mettle have the option of crafting the weapon. Of course, before they can do that players will first need to acquire five red border Tarnished Weapons and either complete the Deepsight Resonance objective on them or dismantle them. Doing so will unlock the weapon pattern for that gun and players will be able tomake a craftable versionthat can be leveled.
In time,Destiny 2players will be able to unlock additional perks for the weapon and craft a version that suits their play style. Of course, this will require players to obtain Tarnished Mettle first but crafted weapons are really powerful, and the grind is worth it.

Destiny 2is now available for Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
