Luckily for fans who were anticipating this game, the project has finally been given a second chance in 2025.Cookie Runplayers have received some insight into the current state of the game, and the design is looking more promising than ever before. Here’s everything we currently know aboutCookie Run: OvenSmash.

Cookie Run: OvenSmash Release Window & Platforms
A Confirmed Release For IOS And Android, Whilst Other Platforms Remain Ambiguous
Registration forCookie Run: OvenSmash’sclosed beta ended on April 15th, 2025. The exact testing date is set to be announced soon during the month of April, with the full release being expected by the end of 2025. The OvenSmash team recently announced “The Creator Cup,” a showdown between several Cookie Run creators which will air on April 26th, 9PM (GMT+9) on theOvenSmashYoutube Channel, implying thatthe game is very close to being in a fully playable state.
Cookie Run: OvenSmashwill be available on Android and iOS, which are the only platforms available for beta testers.IOS users will need to use an iPhone X or higher, and Android users will require a Galaxy S9 or higher. It appears that a PC version of the game is planned to release on Steam in the future — the game’sSteampage also mentions full controller support, but this has not been updated sinceOvenSmash’soriginal announcement in 2022, so it’s unclear if this will be true to the official release.

All Confirmed Characters In Cookie Run: OvenSmash
Lots Of New And Familiar Faces
Cookie Run: OvenSmashwill see the return of many beloved characters fromCookie Run: Kingdomand Cookie Run: Ovenbreak, like Espresso Cookie andBlueberry Pie Cookie, as well as some brand-new faces. The game has introduced a new setting to the Cookie Run universe, Platter City, where cookies compete for the “Oven Crown Cup” in order to get their deepest wish fulfilled. This comes with three new factions — the Lactoses, the Café Fruit Bombers, and the Grinders. The Lactoses are a family of prestigious cheese-inspired cookies, and the Grinders are vigilantes from the Meat district.
Gingerbright and Fairy Cookie are also featured on the Steam page, but there has been no official confirmation that they will have a place in the game.DJ Miya, the winner of the previous Oven Crown Cup, is a new character unique to OvenSmash, but it’s not confirmed if she will serve as an NPC or playable character. It’s believed that she used her wish to make the cookies of Platter City love her, which is how she became its idol.
It’s unlikely that there are any major links to theCookie Run: Kingdomlore in theOvenSmashuniverse, but it’s possible that the Lactose family’s wealth could be a result of having a connection toGolden Cheese Cookie, the queen of the Golden Cheese Kingdom - or her followers, since both groups are based off cheeses.
Each playable cookie will have their own unique attacks and abilities. The trailer animation seems to hint at the attacks of some of the new characters — String Cheese Cookie rapidly fires strips of cheese out of a revolving cannon, and Camembert Cookie attacks enemies directly with a glowing gauntlet. Players will likely want to seek out the best team compositions or the cookies with the most efficient abilities in order to succeed.
Cookie Run: OvenSmash Gameplay Details
A Multiplayer Fighting Game Starring The Cookie Run Cast
OvenSmash has been in the works for over three years, but a short preview of the gameplay has been shared on theCookie Run: KingdomYouTube channel.SinceOvenSmashwas first announced, it seems like a lot of the gameplay has been heavily revamped, so content from older announcements may not be exactly the same in the final release. For example, a 10v10 treasure hunt scavenger mode was previously mentioned, but has received no further updates or development in the trailer. Originally, the standard team size was five, but this seems to have been changed to three after recent announcements.
The game is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, where teams of players will fight against each other in various game modes. It’s a similar approach toBrawl Stars, but it boasts a bit more variety. Footage from four of these game modes has been released in the trailer.
The first is a deathmatch-style mode where the first team to ten kills wins, which may be a revamp of the “Wanted Star” game mode that was announced in the old Steam trailer, or a quicker alternative. The second mode shown in the trailer is a Capture The Flag-style game, which is likely a development of the “domination” game mode.
Players appear to be able to earn medals, or another type of currency, depending on how well they perform in a match. This may function similarly to trophies in theCookie Run: KingdomArena.
The final two are a free-for-all/battle royale mode and a looting game mode where players have to collect the highest number of gold bars and prevent their opponents from collecting them using various means of attack. An MVP and ranking system are briefly shown to exist in the trailer, but details on how ranks will be determined remain unclear. Be prepared to develop the best tactics possible for the cookies you choose to play.
Something else to keep in mind when building strategies is spell cards, which have been briefly touched upon on the officialCookie Run: OvenSmashX account. This feature may have been inspired by Ovenbreak’s invocation cards, and provides players with an extra attack bonus or power-up. Some spell cards shared by theOvenSmashteam are the “Sticky Trap,” which slows enemies down, and “Call Dragon,” which summons a dragon to fly across the arena and scorch multiple enemies within a straight line. Make sure to stay on the lookout for moreOvenSmashannouncements throughout the next few months.
