Brie Larsonhas officially signed on to star alongside Olivia Colman in a new FX psychological thriller limited series. Larson recently made a guest appearance in the FX seriesThe Bear, but her most prominent TV credits includeUnited States of Taraand Apple TV+‘sLessons in Chemistry, for which she earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
Now,Larson has officially been signed on to star in FX’s limited series,Cry Wolf(viaVariety). This psychological thriller, confirmed in February 2025, is based on the 2020 Danish TV showUlven Kommer. This English-language remake will star Larson as a mother whose children are removed by a social worker (Colman) after her daughter makes an accusation of abuse.

Cry Wolfwill be a return to the psychological thriller genre for Larson. The series it’s based on sees the social worker remove a teenage girl and her brother from the mother’s home following their report of abuse from their stepfather. Larson’s character, the mother, is vehement that her husband is innocent. It won’t be an easy role, but it’s something Larons should be well equipped for.
It’s been ten years since Larson proved herself impacful in the sorts of dark, twisted, and emotionally driven scenes that are common within the psychological thriller genre, but the fact that her performance garnered such acclaim is promising.Cry Wolfis guaranteed to benefit from such casting, especially since Larson will get to share a screen with a performer like Colman.

Now that we know that Larson will be Colman’s costar, I’m even more excited to seeCry Wolfhit FX in the coming years.
Regardless of how FX approaches this project, it’s all but guaranteed to be gold with its increasingly exceptional cast.

Of course, as is typical with psychological thrillers, it won’t be quite that simple.
